SAVE OUR ONCE BEAUTIFUL ROOIDAM from becoming just another cesspool!!

Water is life, a basic human right.....but just as important to the local residents, it's also a place where children get to frolic in the dam while adults gather around the braai stand and enjoy some quality time with family and friends...a place where memories are made...
Sadly this in no longer what we have at the Rooidam....Through years the poor governance and neglect we have been left with filthy dam that has been smothered to death by hyacinths (considered to be the world's worst aquatic weed) and litter.
According to the Agricultural Research Council, Hyacinths have gained their notorious weed reputation due to its invasiveness and negative impact on aqautic ecosystems, but it's also a potential health risk and is also classified as a class 1b weed in terms of the National Environmentol Management: Biodiversity Act (10/2000): Alien and Invasive species Regulations, 2014, which necessitates its control or eradication where possible.

Why is this important?

Apart from the negative impact of a filthy Rooidam in one of South Africa's most beautiful cities, it's also a safety risk to those that are brave enough to venture to the once popular Rooidam.
We humbly ask the newly elected Mayor of Mangaung, Honorable Mxolisi Siyonzana to instruct the relevant department to clean up the Rooidam and rid it of the filth and hyacinths so that the community can once again enjoy making new memories at this Rooidam.

How it will be delivered

The petition will be handed over to the Honourable Mayor Mxolisi Siyonzana or his representative.

Super exciting about the clean up. Carp Tactical is handling the project and it looks amazing. 4 ton of hyacinths a day is taken out.
